Privacy Policy

Version 1.0 — Effective September 1, 2026

In short. YODiM runs on your local network. The App creates no account, shows no ads, embeds no analytics or tracking tools, and sends no usage data to YODIM Applications Inc. Your settings stay on your device. The only information that can reach us is what you send us yourself by email.

1. Who we are

YODIM Applications Inc. ("we", "our") publishes and distributes the YODiM mobile application (the "App"), a remote control for Denon and Marantz audio-video amplifiers and receivers. For the purposes of applicable privacy laws, YODIM Applications Inc. is the data controller.

The App was designed on a privacy by design basis: it requires no account, no server and no user profile in order to do its job.

2. No collection, no advertising, no tracking

  • No account, registration or sign-in is required.
  • The App contains no advertising.
  • The App embeds no third-party analytics kit (for example Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics), no pixel, no tracker and no advertising identifier (Apple IDFA, Google GAID).
  • No usage data, performance metric or crash report is transmitted to YODIM Applications Inc. or to any external server.
  • We do not sell, rent or trade any personal information, and we do not share any for targeted advertising or data brokerage purposes.

3. Local operation and network communications

In normal use, all App communications take place on your local network (Wi-Fi or Ethernet), between your mobile device and your compatible audio equipment (Denon, Marantz, HEOS). The App establishes no connection to any YODIM Applications Inc. server: we operate no application server, no user database and no cloud service where your data could end up.

Two limited and predictable exceptions may cause communications to leave the local network — communications that still do not involve us:

  • Purchase verification. Pro licence validation is performed with the app store (Apple App Store or Google Play), through the mechanisms built into your operating system. See section 5.
  • Content displayed by your equipment. Album artwork, playlists and metadata coming from streaming services are requested by your receiver or your mobile device directly from those services. The App merely displays them. See section 7.

4. Data stored locally on your device

To operate, the App stores the following on your device only, in its private storage area:

  • the local IP addresses, names, models and zones of your audio equipment, together with any custom names you give them;
  • your display preferences: widget selection and layout, theme, colours, language, home-screen settings and any presets you create;
  • a local diagnostic log, viewable in the App's Debug section. It records commands sent to your equipment and the responses received, for troubleshooting purposes. It stays on your device, is size-limited, and is never transmitted automatically. It reaches us only if you choose to send it to us;
  • the flag indicating that the Pro version was purchased, as reported by the store.

Configuration backup files (JSON format) that you explicitly choose to export remain wherever you place them: your device, or a storage service you manage yourself. They are never transmitted to us. Such a file contains your local IP addresses and settings; treat it as a personal document.

This data does not leave your device because of the App. On some systems it may be included in your device backup (iCloud, Google One) if you have enabled that feature: such backups are handled by Apple or Google, not by us.

5. In-app purchases

The YODiM Pro version is obtained through an in-app purchase made via the Apple App Store or Google Play.

  • The transaction is concluded with the store. We never see your card number, name, billing address or any other payment data.
  • The App receives a purchase confirmation (receipt or token) from the store, attesting that the Pro licence belongs to you. That confirmation is stored locally and is used only to unlock Pro features.
  • Apple and Google process your payment information as separate controllers, under their own privacy policies. From them we receive only aggregate sales reports, with no buyer identification.

6. Permissions requested

Depending on your operating system, the App may request the following permissions, each one strictly necessary for a visible feature:

Permission Why
Local network / device discovery (iOS: "Local Network")Discover your audio equipment (SSDP, mDNS) and send commands to it.
Internet access / network stateCommunicate over Wi-Fi, validate a purchase, display artwork provided by music services.
File pickerOnly when you import or export a configuration file. The App accesses only the file you select.

“Local Network” permission (iOS). As Apple requires, the App declares the purpose of this access, and iOS shows it to you once, on first launch, in these words: “YODiM communicates directly with your Denon or Marantz receiver on your local network. No data leaves your home.” You can change that choice at any time in Settings › YODiM. Refusing the permission prevents the App from reaching your equipment: it still opens, but it can no longer control anything.

On Android, the App requests no runtime permission. It declares only Internet access and network-state reading, both granted at install time, and goes through the system file picker to import or export a configuration.

The App never accesses your contacts, location, camera, microphone, photos, address book or communications.

7. Third-party services and equipment

Your Denon, Marantz and HEOS equipment may be linked to streaming services (for example Spotify, Qobuz, Amazon Music, TuneIn, Deezer). The App can display what those services return to your equipment — current track, artwork, lists — and can, at your request, open the service's own app on your phone. Before showing that button, the App asks the operating system whether the relevant service's app is present on your device, so as not to offer to open something that is not there. This check covers a short, fixed list of music services declared within the App; it happens entirely on your device, and its result is neither stored nor transmitted to anyone.

These services and devices are operated by third parties under their own terms and privacy policies. We have no access to your accounts with them, receive none of their data, and exercise no control over what they collect. Links opened from the App take you beyond our responsibility.

8. Email support

If you write to us at [email protected], we receive your email address, the content of your message and any attachment you choose to include (for example a diagnostic log or a configuration file).

  • Purpose: answering your request and fixing the reported issue.
  • Basis: your request itself (legitimate interest in responding; performance of the licence agreement).
  • Retention: no more than 24 months after the exchange is closed, then deletion. You may request earlier deletion.
  • Sharing: none. These exchanges are never used for commercial purposes, nor added to any mailing list.
  • Hosting and processing outside your jurisdiction: our inbox is hosted by an email provider located in the United States. By writing to us, you accept that your email address, the content of your message and its attachments transit and are stored on servers outside Quebec, Canada and the European Economic Area, in a country whose laws differ from those of your place of residence and where local authorities may, in certain cases, gain access to them. This is the only processing of that kind; it concerns only people who choose to write to us, and you can avoid it by not writing to us.

Please include in your messages only what is necessary for troubleshooting.

9. Children's privacy

The App is neither designed for nor directed at children, and is not listed as a children's app in the stores. Since it collects no personal information, it collects none about a child. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13 (or the applicable minimum age in your country). If you believe such information reached us by email, write to us and we will delete it.

10. Security

App data resides in its private storage area, protected by the Android and iOS sandboxing mechanisms. Communications with your equipment travel over your local network and use the protocol exposed by the manufacturer, over HTTPS where the device offers it.

The security of your local network remains your responsibility: protect your Wi-Fi and avoid exposing your audio equipment directly to the Internet.

11. Your rights and how to exercise them

Depending on where you live, you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, portability, objection and restriction over your personal information, as well as the right to withdraw consent.

  • App data: it is on your device and under your direct control. You can change or erase it from the App's settings, or remove all of it by uninstalling the App. We hold no copy and therefore can neither access nor restore it.
  • Support correspondence: write to [email protected] to obtain a copy of, or request deletion of, our exchanges. We respond within 30 days at most.

No automated decision-making producing legal effects is applied to you, and no profiling is performed.

If you believe your rights have not been respected, you may lodge a complaint with the competent authority: in Quebec, the Commission d'accès à l'information; in Canada, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada; in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, your country's supervisory authority.

12. Regulatory frameworks

By virtue of its no-collection design, the App aligns with the principles of Quebec's Law 25, Canada's PIPEDA, the GDPR in the European Union and the United Kingdom, and the CCPA/CPRA in California. We do not sell or share personal information within the meaning of those laws.

The only transfer outside Canada that may concern you is the hosting of our support mailbox in the United States, described in section 8.

13. Store declarations

This policy matches the declarations we file in the Data safety section of Google Play and the App Privacy section of the Apple App Store: no data collected, no data shared, no tracking across apps or websites. Should a change in the App alter those declarations, this policy would be updated and a new effective date published.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in the App or in the legal framework. Any revised version is published at this address with a new effective date. Where a material change affects your information, we will note it in the App's release notes.
